President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to step in as Acting National Chairman. This follows the sudden resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje from the position.
Ganduje reportedly stepped down to focus on personal issues. The announcement came through a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Friday night. Ganduje’s resignation letter was addressed to the National Working Committee and sent via the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru. In it, he thanked President Tinubu for giving him the chance to lead the party.
Dalori has been asked to urgently call a meeting of the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to handle the leadership vacancy officially.
Ganduje became chairman in August 2023 after Senator Abdullahi Adamu resigned. During his time in office, he was praised for promoting unity in the party, upholding internal democracy, and strengthening APC’s position in the political space. According to Morka, his leadership attracted key figures from rival parties and secured court rulings in the party’s favor. The trust shown in Ganduje during the party’s February 2025 meetings was also highlighted as proof of his impact.
The party’s leadership expressed gratitude for Ganduje’s efforts and said it remains committed to delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda led by President Tinubu.
