The Lagos State Government has announced a 110-day partial closure of the Ogudu/Ifako Bridge for major repairs, with a diversion plan to help manage traffic throughout the period. The project, which had been delayed earlier, will begin on June 28 and is expected to end on October 15.
Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi said the repair will take place in eight phases, affecting both directions of the bridge. The first four phases will focus on the Ogudu/Ifako lane heading toward Alapere from June 28 to August 16. The remaining four phases will shift to the opposite lane heading toward Oworonshoki from August 16 to October 5.
During the partial closure, motorists will be directed to alternative routes. For the first phase, drivers from Iyana Oworo are advised to go through Gbagada and connect to Anthony, which leads to Ikorodu Road for onward travel. A single lane will remain open near the work site, about 50 meters before and after the repair zone. In the second phase, those from Eko Bridge can take Funsho Williams Avenue to access Ikorodu Road.
Osiyemi assured residents that Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officers will be stationed along the affected routes to manage traffic flow and reduce inconvenience. He urged all road users to remain calm and cooperative while the repair work continues.
