Super Falcons star Rinsola Babajide has signed a two-year contract with Italian Serie A Women’s club AS Roma. The 26-year-old attacker, who recently left Spanish side UD Tenerife following the expiration of her contract in May, was unveiled by the Italian giants on Sunday.
Her move was confirmed by the club via its official website, welcoming Babajide as their latest addition. The versatile forward expressed her excitement on her X (formerly Twitter) page, stating that she is eager to start this new chapter of her career. She thanked God, her family—particularly her mother—and her representatives for their support, sharing her joy at returning to a team dressed in red.
Babajide is now the second Nigerian international at Roma, joining compatriot and fellow Super Falcons player Shukurat Oladipo. She will report to her new club after fulfilling national duties at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
A former player for Liverpool and Real Betis, Babajide has been handed the number 30 jersey by the Rome-based club as she begins a fresh journey in the Italian league.
