Jonathan, Akufo-Addo Pay Respects to Buhari in London Visit

Goodluck Jonathan and Ghana’s Akufo-Addo meet Vice President Shettima in London to honour late ex-President Buhari, as plans for his return to Nigeria begin.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo met with Vice President Kashim Shettima in London on Monday to pay their final respects to the late former Nigerian leader, Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away at the age of 82. The meeting was marked by heartfelt tributes and reflections on Buhari’s impact on regional leadership and governance.

Vice President Shettima is currently in the United Kingdom on the orders of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to coordinate the return of Buhari’s body to Nigeria for a state funeral. He is accompanied by a high-powered delegation, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia.

The solemn visit by Jonathan and Akufo-Addo underscored Buhari’s significance not only to Nigeria but to the wider West African community.
