The 911 audio from the day NFL legend John Elway called for help after his longtime agent Jeff Sperbeck fell from a golf cart has been released. The incident happened at the Madison Club in La Quinta, California, on April 26.
Elway and Sperbeck were riding together when Sperbeck fell from the back of the cart. According to the call, Elway told the dispatcher that they hadn’t hit anything, but Sperbeck had suffered a head injury from the fall.
The emergency operator asked Elway to check if Sperbeck was breathing and told him not to move him unless necessary. The operator also gave steps to control bleeding and asked Elway to use a clean cloth or towel. Elway said a medic was already on the scene.
Authorities later ruled the case an accident, citing blunt force trauma as the cause of death. No charges were filed against Elway, and the investigation has officially ended.
A source close to Elway told Page Six he has been deeply affected by the incident and is struggling with the loss, saying he has remained upset and withdrawn.
Sperbeck had represented Elway since 1990. Over the years, they worked on numerous business ventures together and developed a close friendship.
After the tragedy, Elway shared a heartfelt message, calling Sperbeck a loyal friend and partner. He said the loss had left him heartbroken and expressed his condolences to Sperbeck’s family.
Sperbeck is survived by his wife, Cori, and children Carly, Sam, and Jackson.
