Governor Siminalayi Fubara arrived at the international terminal of Port Harcourt Airport on Friday around 7 PM, marking his return from an overseas trip. During his time away, sources revealed that the governor met with President Bola Tinubu in a private session held in London, United Kingdom.
Fubara’s return comes at a critical time, as Rivers State faces significant political unrest. President Tinubu recently declared a state of emergency in the state, citing escalated attacks on oil pipelines and worsening security conditions. These issues, according to the President, stemmed from a power struggle involving Governor Fubara, his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu, and 27 state lawmakers backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Following this development, the President suspended Fubara, Odu, and the State House of Assembly members, intensifying political uncertainties in the oil-dependent region.
