The Federal Ministry of Works has announced the closure of the Ijora-Marine Bridge for 21 days, starting from Sunday, May 18, 2025, to facilitate essential repair work. According to the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Engr. Olukorede Kesha, some parts of the bridge will be fully closed while others will experience partial closures.
The repairs are aimed at enhancing road safety and improving the driving experience for commuters. This includes lifting the bridge deck to replace the faulty bearings underneath, alongside other necessary maintenance tasks. The goal is to create a safer and smoother road for all users.
To minimize disruptions, the Ministry has planned diversion routes and traffic management systems. Local residents and businesses within the affected area are advised to make necessary adjustments to their plans.
Engr. Kesha reassured the public that adequate signage and traffic control measures would be in place to guide both drivers and pedestrians. She also apologized for any inconvenience caused, expressing gratitude for the public’s understanding and cooperation as the repairs take place.
