A recent public opinion poll conducted on the official Facebook page of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has revealed significant backing for Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu. The poll, which took place from April 19 to 21, invited a wide range of participants, including staff, students, alumni, and university friends, to evaluate his leadership since his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on November 20, 2024.
Prof. Ikechebelu, who introduced his transformative BLESSeD Vision aimed at improving various aspects of the university, including beautification, security, digitization, and excellence, garnered impressive results. Of the 1,304 votes cast, 73% (955 votes) rated his performance as Excellent, while 14% (185 votes) deemed it Very Good. A smaller percentage, 8% (107 votes), rated it as Fair, and only 4% (57 votes) voted Poor.
The overwhelming positive response underscores broad approval of his leadership and the progress achieved in a relatively short period. According to the university’s media office, the results reflect strong support for Prof. Ikechebelu’s reforms and his vision for UNIZIK’s growth and development. Many view this poll as a powerful endorsement of his direction for the institution.
