President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his government’s resolve to reshape Nigeria’s infrastructure by delivering practical, community-focused projects that touch lives directly.
On Wednesday, during the commissioning of the newly dualised Ushafa to War College/Army Checkpoint road and other adjoining roads in Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the President. He said the administration is focused on building a country where all communities are linked, businesses can grow easily, and citizens live with dignity.
According to the President, the new infrastructure rollout across the country shows a clear plan for inclusive progress and long-term development. He noted that these completed roads will ease traffic, support local businesses, improve access to schools and hospitals, and generally raise the living standards in the area.
He added that awarding the project to a Nigerian-owned firm was intentional. It reflects the administration’s confidence in local talent. He explained that the goal is not only to build roads but also to grow local skills, provide jobs, and give communities a sense of ownership.
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, praised the project as part of a wider, never-before-seen wave of development in the territory. He said the impact is particularly strong in satellite towns, where improved roads can unlock local economic potential. Wike also applauded the contractor for a job well done.
Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, thanked the President and Vice President for their leadership. She said the project is helping to rewrite the region’s development story and laying the groundwork for future growth.
The Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Hon. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, also commended the government’s fairness in distributing development, noting that people in satellite towns fully back the administration.
The project includes a dualised 16.4-kilometre road from Ushafa to the War College/Army Checkpoint and other connecting roads within Bwari.
Attendees at the event included key government officials such as Senator David Jimkuta, who chairs the Senate Committee on FCT Area Councils, Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, and former governors and senators, including Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Chibudom Nwuche, George Sekibo, Philip Aduda, and Mao Ohuabunwa.
