The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed that the Warri-Itakpe Train Service will resume operations on Tuesday, April 30, 2025. This follows a temporary halt that began on April 10 due to technical and operational issues that affected the smooth running of the service.
According to an official announcement released on Monday, trains will operate six days a week from May 1, 2025. Services will be available every day except Thursdays, which have been set aside for regular maintenance.
The 320-kilometre rail line connects Delta and Kogi states, serving both passengers and freight transport. The suspension had raised concern among daily commuters and travellers who rely on the route as a convenient and affordable link between southern and central Nigeria.
The NRC stated that after a complete inspection and necessary repairs, operations are ready to resume with a focus on better efficiency, improved safety, and more reliable service. Passengers are advised to use the NRC’s official platforms for the latest ticket information and updated travel schedules.
